My First Doll Brooches

19
Dec/11

A couple of days ago, a colleague of mine (from my school) asked me to do two brooches. She wanted two dolls representing each of her son’s teachers. What do you think? For me they’re really nice, since it’s my first attempt! Let’s see if my colleague and her son’s teachers think the same…

New drawing, this one for Bárbara.

And the ladybug ring that Viri ordered a long time ago… thanks for the patience!

Berlin breathes art from everywhere…

04
Sep/11

In August I was in Berlin… for me it is a  dream city! This city breathes art everywhere. In every neighborhood you get to see a street market, where anything is sold, like home-made food, paintings, fashion accessories, purses, sweets… Every street has something different, like a painted wall or door, a windowpane with flowers, a sculpture made of garbage, it’s really a world of inspiration! I’ve been there for 10 days and it felt like it wasn’t enough… Check out some of the many pictures I’ve taken.

By the way, I’m preparing a much more complete post about my trip to Berlin. Soon you’ll get to see it at FOTOVIAJAR, a Portuguese web page about traveling from a friend of mine.

At the several street markets I visited, I had the opportunity of knowing the work of many artists that I didn’t know of until now. Here are the websites of some of them:

My New Books: “Sew!” by Cath Kidston and “The Handmade Marketplace” by Kari Chapin

04
Aug/11

I have the best husband in the whole world!

A couple of months ago he offered me the book “sew!” by Cath Kidston. And then, a few weeks later, he offered me another one: “The Handmade Marketplace” by Kari Chapin.

The first one is very practical when it comes to learning the basics of sewing. It has a lot of images and is based on tutorials. It even brings all the materials you need to sew a handbag. To find more about the author check out her page: http://www.cathkidston.eu/.

The second is the most useful book I’ve ever read. It was my reading in Turkey and I still check it sometimes. I got great advices and even took several notes, just like a student. It’s very easy to read. As I read it I felt an enormous will to work and implement all the knowledge it conveys. The author, Kari Chapin, counts with the help and wisdom of many other bloggers. To know more about Kari you can consult:  http://www.karichapin.com/.

In less than a month I’ll be married!

16
May/11

Hello everyone

I have been really busy with the last arrangements for the big event of the year, my wedding, and that’s why I have been a little disconnected… I keep following your blogs (thanks to Google Reader!), but in the latest weeks I have not done another thing apart from worrying and solving all the issues that a wedding implies…
Besides that, to make things complicated, we’re getting married in Lagos, but we’re organizing eveything from A Coruña! So, you know, I’ve got the perfect excuse for not having my blog up to date, LOL.

Well, I take this chance to show you the first fabric bags I made. I hope you like it!
